The War Of The Words
There has still been some heated discussion on the very touchy subject of ballast versus no ballast. The consensus of people seems to support the Stevenson’s design as is. This includes the, now two, people who have gone over in their Weekender. Both people have attributed their knockdowns to pilot error and weather, rather than design flaws.
But just to be on the safe side of things Paul Heyse has instituted a volunteer study of these designs to provide some good documented information on performance.

Overboard
Terry Crisp has had the honor of being the second reported Weekender to go over. Unexpected wind conditions caused an accidental jibe, which threw his Weekender over before he could get to the other side of the boat. After pulling the boat to a nearby beach and unbolting the mast tabernacle, the boat "nearly rolled upright by itself."
Congratulations Terry on a smooth recovery and thank you for "Volunteering" to perform a knock down test.

The BYYB is over 50
To date there are 55 members in the BYYB and growing. What started out as a great idea is turning into a strong reality. The BBS is hit hard every day with new people taking a look. According to Adam Plourde, Bulletin Board Administrator, The BYYB Bulletin Board is one of the most often visited boards he has seen on the web. More and more people are posting that they get better and nicer responses from our board than any of the other boards.

The BYYB Community is coming together
Several launchings have taken place since the last issue. People on the board are talking about a nationwide get together next year, and there will be a Lake George get together very soon. See the Launchings section and Regattas section of the Gaff Rig.
